In summary, the sunset seen was very beautiful and the photographer was able to capture some of the magic on camera.

Hi all. On the drive home the other night I saw ? seen? one of the coolest sunsets I have ever seen. Let me describe it for you.
There was a low layer of clouds with a clearing (clear sky) above and then another layer of clouds several thousand feet above. The sun set below (behind) the lower layer and reflected up in a beam to light up the clouds at the higher layer. The effect was fantastic. The beam looked like a shaft or sword of light.
Although I was driving at the time I grabbed my camera and took several shots over a few minutes. Thru the windshield and in traffic.
The sight to the eye was amazing, to the camera, not so much. I will put a link to the photos here and ask if anyone here with skills with photoshop can clean one or all of them up and capture some of the magic. You can claim and receive credit for any work done to the photos. Any one up to the challenge? I thank you for any help. Just click the medium photo in photobucket to get the full size one and dl it or them from there.

I tried, but couldn't get much out of it. I think the problem is that it is overexposed - common when taking photos of a dusk sky.

I'm actually more concerned about the flying saucer that dropped three bombs right in front of you before banking off to the left! Are you ok?!?

I'll see what I can salvage from the photo. It's not high quality..and like Russ said, it's overexposed.

What do you want it to look like? (final product)

Blech. I'm partially colorblind and whenever I try to work on something other than a black and white image it turns to mush:

I tried. Created a bit of noise, but it was the best I could do.

Around here the sky would be more pink/purple that time of the evening.

Okay, here's one thing I can help with - the correct one in this case is "saw".

Hey thanks. great results. The closest to real from the drivers seat is Hypatias. It was very bright in that local area. Thanks Hypatia. For reality you nailed it. Larkspur, Borek and Christina, you really brought it into the realm of a viewable photo. Your results are great. Captain Quasar, yours fits well with the bombing flying saucer theme put forth by Russ. A little unreal and slightly surreal and scary lol. The flying saucer is actualy my traffic escort and the bombs take out any annoying traffic in my vicinity Ahhh rank does have its privileges.
Anyhow, how can I get copies from youall?? I am really pleased with all your efforts. Thanks.

I'm sorry, I would give you the original but I deleted it...the only size available is the one I posted here.

1. How can I make the sunset in my photo more vibrant and colorful?

One way to make the sunset in your photo more vibrant and colorful is by using the "Vibrance" adjustment in Photoshop. This will help to enhance the colors without oversaturating them.

2. Can I add multiple photos of different sunsets into one photo?

Yes, you can use the "Layers" feature in Photoshop to combine multiple photos of sunsets into one. This will allow you to adjust each photo separately and create a unique final image.

3. Is there a way to remove any unwanted objects or distractions in the sunset photo?

Yes, Photoshop has a "Spot Healing Brush" tool that can be used to remove unwanted objects or distractions from a photo. This tool uses surrounding pixels to seamlessly blend in the area being edited.

4. How can I make the sunset appear more dramatic and intense?

You can use the "Curves" adjustment in Photoshop to increase the contrast and add depth to the sunset photo. You can also use the "Burn" tool to darken specific areas and create a more dramatic effect.

5. Can I resize the sunset image without losing its quality?

Yes, you can resize the sunset image in Photoshop without losing its quality by using the "Image Size" function. Make sure to choose the "Bicubic Sharper" option to preserve the image quality when resizing.
