Great youtube introduction video about Quantum Field Theory (QFT) from a couple of days ago by Dr Don Lincoln @fermilab. The video and description of a particle being a disturbance in a field and flying through the air at 3:25 is especially compelling. A little later, he shows creation of a second particle by allowing this "disturbance" to split into two "disturbances" and continue on its way.
