How can I calculate the mass flow rate out of a PSV valve?

Hi all, I am designing a pressure relief system for a high pressured gas (air) system. System consists of a highly pressurised gas receiver with PSV mounted driectly on it which vents via tailpipes to atmosphere. I know the max mass flow rate out of the container I know the back pressure...

Thermodynamic Properties of high pressure gases

Thank-you for this, could you tell me how you calculated/where you found this data? Just so I can do it for myself in future as I reckon I will have a range of other pressures and temps to calculate kinematic viscosity for in future. Thanks

Thermodynamic Properties of high pressure gases

Hi, Anyone know where I can find thermodynamic properties of gases at high pressure? More specifically I need to find the kinematic viscosity or the absolute viscosity of air at around 300 degrees Kelvin and 330 bar. Cheers

Is Choked Flow the Key to Designing an Effective Relief Valve Tailpipe?

Again thanks, much appreciated... I am now busying myself with pressure transient surges of compressible gas caused by the choked flow, much like a water hammer effect apparently

Is Choked Flow the Key to Designing an Effective Relief Valve Tailpipe?

Q_Goest, thank you very much for your reply. I will start by trying to obtain a copy of Crane's Technical Paper 410 through our library at University and also the ASME document you mentioned (I already have ASME b31.3). Any old papers on the topic would be very much appreciated, thank-you very much.

Is Choked Flow the Key to Designing an Effective Relief Valve Tailpipe?

Hi, I'm a final year master's student doing a study on relief valve tailpipe design for my final year project. The system which the relief valve is fitted to is a high pressure breathing air gas cylinder (300 bar) on board a large ship and it vents to atmosphere via piping which can be...
