Graduate What holds the electron intact?
@phyzguy : Thanks for your suggestion. I just read that. I never thought there could be a whole section there discussing this topic! By the way, I find Feynman's lectures in general a bit complicated as a first time learner. At this point of my study, I think I would just leave the question (for...- Amio C

Graduate What holds the electron intact?
That's what I am actually confused about. I don't understand what does Purcell mean by these lines: "What holds the electron together is as mysterious as what fixes the precise value of its charge. Something more than electrical forces must be involved, for the electrostatic forces between...- Amio C

Graduate What holds the electron intact?
I was reading the book "Electricity and Magnetism" 3rd edition (Purcell, Morin) and under section 1.3 the book says (I quote): "What holds the electron together is as mysterious as what fixes the precise value of its charge. Something more than electrical forces must be involved, for the...- Amio C

High School What does "stationary charges" mean in Coulomb's law?
Thank you for your answer. Please help me a bit more. So if two charges along with an observer (let's call him / her "X") is moving at a constant velocity and another observer ("Y") is not moving; then "X" can apply Coulomb's law but "Y" can not - am I correct?- Amio C

High School What does "stationary charges" mean in Coulomb's law?
Hello. I am an intro Physics student and this is my first post here. In Coulomb's law the charges are said to be stationary. I need some clarification about what does it mean for two charges to be stationary: A. Does it mean that the charges are not moving with respect to each other? (But...- Amio C
