Homework Statement
Prove the following product-to-sum identities:
i) cosucosv = 1/2[cos(u + v)+cos(u - v)]
ii) sinusinv = 1/2[cos(u - v) - cos(u + v)]
Any help/hints would be appreciated. The TAs (teacher assistants) can't help us with our problem set questions, so I'm stuck on this...
Argh, I haven't done any calculus since gr. 12 and university calculus is killing me. Need some help with a few questions; and I know there are a few that I'm asking for on here, but they are only a few out of many (I've done most).

My knowledge of astrophysics is purely on a self-interest level (I just read about it on my own because it is extremely interesting); but I have read that the speed of light can be exceeded if there is a distortion in spacetime. What are the actual theories on this topic?
I have a question I need to do which I'm stuck on:
find a
log[base 2](log[base 3]a) = 2
How would I do that? And sorry about the crude representation of the base, but I'm not sure how to do a small 2 or 3 on the computer.
Edit: oh damn, wrong forum. I guess it has to be moved to the...
