Thanks for your input everyone. Got more?
So comets that are already moving out of the solar system are too slow to just hop on board and fly out of the solar system. Are there any comets that are moving signficantly faster? What if we steered one of those? What if we just fired rockets...
Wouldn't it be better to use a comet since it will stabalize when it gets away from the sun and since it would be bigger than anything we could build it might protect us from space debris.
I'm not claiming that comets brought life to earth, I am theorizing that we could use comets to take us...
Cool that it's possible to get the comet there. Let me clarify on the rest.
I meant we'd populate other planets by traveling to the comets, drilling into them and creating a place to live underground.
I was thinking that some comets are made of ice and other organic compounds so maybe we...
This might be a good idea for a thesis.
Could we alter a comet's course and make it break free of orbit and head towards another sun and populate other planets?
Some of them are made up of life sustaining elements right?
Could we use nuclear power to melt it to create a biosphere?
Let me start by saying I know nothing and just come seeking knowledge.
I hear that a graviton has never been discovered, only theorized. True?
If so, I was thinking of how we might find one.
When planets get nailed by asteroids isn't the energy from the momentum of the asteroid getting...
Thanks for all the encouragement and advice. I don't feel like it would be a lost cause. I'm thinking of it more as enrichment than a career. Enrichment for me by expanding my mind, for my kids by exposing them to science and a lifetime of learning, for the world if I can find something to...
right, a physics grad program, possibly a phd. i surely don't want to get a phd in Info systems. I've had enough of crunching numbers, building applications, etc. It's served me well in my career but if I learn more I want it to be in the area of math and physics.
im 41 w/BS and MS in Info Systems but I'm really interested in physics. Would I have to start over completely in an undergraduate program? Seems like there was a lot of fluff there that shouldn't have to be repeated (english, psych) Is it too late to start persuing a career in the field...
Why doesn't the scientific community stand up and
1 - Do away with religion.
2 - Do away with nations.
If we all thought about it, neither of them make sense.

You know how all those science channel specials on black holes, they depict a black hole as a funnel in space that sucks everything into another universe.
Wouldn't super dense matter do the same thing? not let anything escape, even light? Wouldnt that be a better explanation?
