Two resistors and total resistance
I have never done a problem like this. In class we are given the total resistance or a drawing. I'm not sure what to do when I am given the total resistance and have to find the two resistors. For parallel: 150=1/r1+1/r2 Would I get the same answer for the two resistors. To solve for...- bkl4life

Why Do Large Sparks Jump from Leather Belts in Machinery?
So would this be accurate to say: The leather resists the flow of electric current. Leather cannot break down electrons. A free charge being accelerated by the electrical field will have enough energy to knock electrons from any atom it strikes. These electrons are accelerated and becomes...- bkl4life

Lightning Strike: Examining Electric Field, Capacitance & Power
Homework Statement Lighting strike: Storm clouds build up large negative charges that dwell in a charge center. Suppose a storm cloud has -25 C in a charge center located 10 km above the ground. The negative charge center attracts an equal amount of positive charge that is spread on the...- bkl4life

Why Do Large Sparks Jump from Leather Belts in Machinery?
Electrons move and you feel a shock. Is that the same with the belt. It is moving along metal so the electrons are being transferred which causes sparks? That doesn't seem right.- bkl4life

How Do You Calculate the Magnitude of Charges Based on Their Potential Energy?
My book says: U=q'*V U=electric potential energy V= electric potential q'= charge It also says that: V=U/q'= K(q/r) Would I be able to do: 2*(8.99*10^9)(charge)/.038= 4.5 mJ- bkl4life

How Do You Calculate the Magnitude of Charges Based on Their Potential Energy?
I was using the charge of an electron. I was looking at part b when I used those numbers. Should I use the 4.5 mj instead of the charge of electron? The total potential of a system is the sum of all the contributions for each pair of particles. I'm just lost.- bkl4life

How Do You Calculate the Magnitude of Charges Based on Their Potential Energy?
I think it's the amount of work needed to separate the charges. (9 x 10^9)*(1.6*10^-19)*(-1.6*10^-19)/.038 = -6.06 *10^-27 When does the 4.5 mJ come into play- bkl4life

How does a lettuce spinner remove water from lettuce?
I'm not even sure what a lettuce spinner is. Maybe that's the problem. I know you fill it up with water and you lift the bowl up and the water will exit through the wholes. The lid has a spinner on it which allows you to get rid of any extra water. This could work because of circular...- bkl4life
