Can More Vectors Than Dimensions Be Linearly Independent?
the equations correspond to the matrix which has to be reduced to give the coefficients for each vector, such that their sum is zero, if the system is linearly independent other than that, ill post again later when i can wrap my head around what you said at the end haha edit: what i meant in...- choob

Can More Vectors Than Dimensions Be Linearly Independent?
Homework Statement prove, if S has m vectors in n dimensions and S is linearly independent, then n>=m Homework Equations The Attempt at a Solution so far I've come up with: there is no combination of vectors in S such that their sum is the zero vector, there exists a vector...- choob

Find all ordered pair of integers for a diophantine equation
@dick if i complete the square i get (x-2)^2+(y-sqrt(2))^2=6 i have no idea what to do from there @ehild x(x-4)=0 when y=0 or y=2 y(2-y)=0 when x=0 or x=4 so (0, 0) is one pair y(2-y)=x(x-4) LS is +ve when 2>y>0 RS is +ve when x>4 LS is -ve when y>2 or y<0 RS is -ve when x<4 there are...- choob

Find all ordered pair of integers for a diophantine equation
Homework Statement find all orderde pairs of integers (x,y) such that x^2+y^2=4x+2y Homework Equations The Attempt at a Solution rearrange to--> x^2=4x+2y-y^2 because x and y can only be integers, y(2-y) must be divisible by x so y(2-y)>=x y(2-y)=x(x-4) x(x-4)>=x x-4>=1 x>=5...- choob

Finding the Vector Equation of a Line at Right Angles: A Homework Challenge
i don't know if this makes sense, but i tried to first came up with an expression for the vector i am trying to find 4-(11+3t), 5-(-8+t), 5-(4+t) (starting point of the vector subtract a point on the line) then using dot product equation, i isolated t to -7/11 is there anything flawed...- choob

Finding the Vector Equation of a Line at Right Angles: A Homework Challenge
it was a question from a test that i got 0 on, the exact wording is as follows: find a vector equ ation of the line through the point (4,5,5) that meets the line (x-11)/3=(y+8)/1=(z-4)/1 at right angles i understand that the dot product of the vector i have to find and of the line given will...- choob
