Why is my AM detector output distorted and only at 110mV peak instead of 700mV?
I added a 2Megohm resistor between D7 and C16 and it looks like it took care of the slant type distortion. Not sure if this is right but I redesigned the detector with R as my 1Megohm load and solved for C. The output signal is around 110mV peak now: http://i.imgur.com/5oDbd.png Can I get the...- extremepilot

Why is my AM detector output distorted and only at 110mV peak instead of 700mV?
I don't know how it can charge up through D7 unless it's leakage current, I am guessing that's not causing the main issue , but how do I relieve it? High resistance to ground between C16 and D7?- extremepilot

Why is my AM detector output distorted and only at 110mV peak instead of 700mV?
Im working in Pspice, I have an RF amp with a modulated input signal coming in on ~600kHz carrier wave and an amplified signal coming out, here is what the output looks like 1Megaohm load after a blocking capacitor to isolate AC: http://i.imgur.com/56NSI.png I am trying to use a simple...- extremepilot

Kn value of a specific transistor given spec sheet
Thanks. I have no idea what LTspice is, but doesn't look like it's installed on my school's computers. Part of the assignment is to enter these characteristics (K,n V,t W, L etc ) into one of the regular Mosfet Ntype transistor models so it acts as a 2n7000, rather than using the 2n7000 model...- extremepilot

Kn value of a specific transistor given spec sheet
Thanks, tried this - I placed the 2n7000 in the circuit and clicked "Edit Properties" on it but I can't find ANYTHING in the property editor Any help is appreciated- extremepilot

Kn value of a specific transistor given spec sheet
That is V,t which is 26mV like you said but what I am looking for is K,n which is in units if mA/V I believe- extremepilot

Kn value of a specific transistor given spec sheet
Hi, Working on a project, I am told to find the K,n value of a specific transistor (2n7000), given the spec. sheet. I know K,n can be found from the formula: I,d = K,n * (V,gs - V,tn)^2 I'm close, from the spec sheet, I can use a V,gs value and a corresponding I,d value, however not sure what...- extremepilot

How Does a Two Diode AND Gate Work?
Thank you One more stab at it ... the output is pulled low if either or both of the inputs are grounded (low/'0'). If both inputs are high (connected to voltage over +3.5v) the output is not 'pulled down' and is high. Right? Also can you simply disconnect the input end of both diodes to prevent...- extremepilot

How Does a Two Diode AND Gate Work?
I think I actually understand and don't know why this didn't occur to me before. But in the linked schematic the output gets connected to ground, correct? I am working with a breadboard and understand that you can't just have (lets say 5v) power connected with no ground connected whatsoever, so...- extremepilot

How Does a Two Diode AND Gate Work?
Ok I actually understand - if any of the diodes are grounded they conduct charge through them and away from the output preventing a 1 - then is the output also grounded? if not which part of the circuit gets grounded?- extremepilot

How Does a Two Diode AND Gate Work?
Thanks! The first part is basically the definition of an and gate, but could you please elaborate on "As long a one input is low, that diode will be conducting. A diode drop in voltage is ~0.6v hence a low state." ? If one diode is conducting it would be conducting towards the input (since...- extremepilot

How Does a Two Diode AND Gate Work?
Hi, I am new to EE. On this page - http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/electronic/diodgate.html#c1" - the very first circuit shows a diode-resistor AND gate. How does that work? I understand the OR gate shown right below it, but... the two inputs on this AND gate are connected to reversed...- extremepilot
