Buoyancy is the weight of displaced water minus the weight of the object.
If you double the volume (while retaining the orignal mass) of the object, then the weight of displaced water doubles as well.
It is, to start off with but, when the water level in the tube reaches the surface level, the weight pushing down is equal to the buoyancy pushing up.
But, don't despair : fresh water is lighter than sea water, so...
If you stick a seawater-RO filter assembly onto the bottom end of your 11km...
I'd had a standard under-the-weather bug from the temperature bouncing up and down so much, lately. My standard response is to bundle up in socks/sweats/scarf for a couple of days while consuming vast quantities of NeoCitran and chicken soup, and binging whatever on the tube.
I thought I was...
Doesn't seem complex : air behind the wavefront is colder than the wavefront, so has a lower speed of sound... it literally can't keep up with the wavefront, thus underpressure. I guess you can add that one to the list of possibilities.
What does Kinney have to say about it ?
Your wonderment at water condensing from the air, and negative pressure gradients can mostly be answered by looking in Wikipedia for articles related to "weather" and "sound", respectively.
Just so we're clear : you make a "mistake", claiming women crash test dummies weren't used in vehicle testing until the 21st century ; I pick up on that obvious lie and - rather than attack you, personally - decide the book has some obvious issues. You then start and continue to make some...
Been awhile, but I don't offhand remember long lines of stroller/wheelchair laden women waiting for the jakes at intermission.
Oh, okay ; in that case, 1996.
Well, apparently you have yourself to thank for that, re" "hint: the 21st century". Actually, 1971, GM shared their design for a female...
You mean you haven't noticed the number of women, laden down with spawn and elderly charges at the typical symphony concert.
that would be the 1976 part of the 21st century, then.
There should be women-only storage lockers at their places of employment where they can park the elderly, children...
I think the confusion is why form an (outwards) ramp. If it were an "ideal gas" all'round, without any of the normal variations in molecular velocity, would it stay a sharp step ? (gradually attenuating).
Thanks for the graph and excerpt. "Going subsonic" (my post(s)) was a temporary brainfart, now cleaned up somewhat : apologies for any confusion caused.
They aren't, neither do they appear to ; reread the snippet you quoted.
