Fortran Fortran Newbie: Help Installing Compiler

I agree as I don't know which OS you are using but as far as free that I have had experience with. Windows:->In windows these should be very easy to install. g95 gfortran->note does not work on all windows os (check the FAQ.) Salford Personal Edition->Installer installs a lot of goodies...

Fortran Drawing Polygons in Fortran: How to Use Code to Create Geometric Shapes

You could download the fortranposix (I think that is the name) library for fortan and it would be connected to gnuplot for graphing. Or you could do like I do: Write a short script that runs your fortran which makes a data dump, then calls gnuplot to produce pdfs of your results (could be set...

McNair Scholars Program: A Physics Major's Perspective and Dilemma

The year before I graduated the only student accepted into a decent grad school program from our physics program was a McNair Scholar.

Hope you have a great day! What are the best Linux distros for beginners?

I know this thread has probably died, but I just thought I would point of if you would like neutrino, you should install xfce. Your specs are not well suited for ubuntu or kubuntu, but Xubuntu should work much faster. (Plus if you just install the necessary packages you can retain the apps...

    Parallel Plates Different areas

Also sorry if some of my posts arent so intelligible I tend to think way faster than I can type and then I think i have typed something but I haven't typed it at all, I know I can go back and edit but 90% percent of the time i realize I was rambling anyways so why bother fixing it.

    Parallel Plates Different areas

I am really looking to be able to find the capacitance of the whole, somehting I can measure after creating it. Lets say that plate A has area ab. And plate B has area ef , Lets let d be the distance between the plates. I am going to get right back to this later tonight first I want to...

    Parallel Plates Different areas

Sorry I am really busy with work I will get back to you hopefully tonight, by the way just a little info I am normally in Pomona,CA but for a little while I will be near San Jose so when were done maybe I can get you lunch or something. K Have fun thinking ab and cd for the areas of the two...

Gravitational force and the distance from the earth

Lets say you have the same answer as jcsd, 6979km as the radius where the acceleration is 5/6 the acceleration at the surface. If the surface is at a radius of 6378km then I subtract 6979km from 6378km and get 601km pretty close to my rough answer.

Gravitational force and the distance from the earth

I think it is just the wording of the question that is gettting the wrong answer not that the answers are wrong. NOte it says altitude, i think altitude means distance above Earth's surface therefore the anwers given for a and b should have the radius of the Earth subtracted from them. Depending...

    Electrostatic Field Energy of Electron

Layman treatment of QED, the book QED by Feynman, don't believe it has what you are looking for in it though been awhile since I read it and I am away from home right now so I can't check as easily. Also I don't believe you could actually say they have a size or radius to go out to but I...

    Parallel Plates Different areas

I would really appreciate any help you could give. It is not for an introductory E&M class, (I just finished my junior year of e&M not with flying colors either.) I was asked to find the answer, and I did not need to work it either just get the answer, but I am interested in solving the problem...

    Parallel Plates Different areas

Hi I am trying to solve this problem. I would like to be able to solve for the capacitance between two parralel plates of different areas. First I tried thinking of them as concentric cylindrical shells but twisting them to do this is not the same thing I realized because the distance...
