How Much Pressure to Open Plant Cell Stomata?
I am writing a paper on the influence of sound waves on plant growth. I have read mechanical stimulation can open stomatas. What I was wondering was what is the amount of pressure the stomata needed to open or close. I take the high pressure of 5 MPa to mean the stomata is closed and the 0.3...- Justin Kirk

High School Rational Numbers: Is Any Whole Number a Rational?
Are whole numbers rational numbers? If so, will any whole number divided by any other whole number result in a rational number?- Justin Kirk

High School Unraveling the Mystery of Light From Stars
Questions. One, hate to be a noob, but what is "cmb"? Two, I understand the universe is expanding but where from? There is a single point from which all matter was created, no? If so, then shouldn't we be able to detect this point in space? If we know how far away stars are, we know how old...- Justin Kirk

High School Unraveling the Mystery of Light From Stars
Ok. What we detect has taken some amount of time to reach Earth. If the oldest light we see is say, 15 billion years, could there exist some object 16 billion light years away? Does the amount of objects we see in the sky increase every year?- Justin Kirk

Can someone explain to me how much pressure it would take to open the stomata of a plant cell?- Justin Kirk

High School A speaker produces a sound with a frequency of 1000hz. How many waves
A speaker produces a sound with a frequency of 1000hz. How many waves are traveling in the air in front of the speaker? Does the number of waves decrease as one moves away from the speaker? Is there only the single 1000hz wave moving the air in front of the speaker? This is not a homework...- Justin Kirk

High School Unraveling the Mystery of Light From Stars
Ok, so couldn't this mean the universe is infinitely large and that there are an infinite amount of objects but there are not enough photons entering our atmosphere for them to be detected?- Justin Kirk

Graduate Is Pi More Complex than E? Insights from Number Theory
I take irrational to mean the digits in pi follow no order. 3 is rational because its digits follow an order, that is 3 then 0,0,0,0,0,0 and so on. What I am trying to ask is, is there an algorithm which would give each digit in pi, which would give the 3, give the 1, give the 4 and so forth...- Justin Kirk

So would it be safe to say the amount of photons on the surface of the "visible sphere" is infinite or incredibly large?- Justin Kirk

High School Unraveling the Mystery of Light From Stars
I always wondered why we see light from stars. If the light travels outward in all directions from a star then you could imagine the light as a growing sphere and the portion we see is a small area on the surface of this sphere. Well if a star is a million light years away this would mean the...- Justin Kirk
