Help with Derivative Homework: f(x)=2x+4/√x
Hmmmmm now i am stumped.I think this is where I am going wrong. Going by the calculator it is -2/3. Is it 2/3( -and- = + thus 1/2 + 1) i feel like a plonker:(- Krypto78

Help with Derivative Homework: f(x)=2x+4/√x
Right where were we 2x^(0.5) + 4x^(-0.5) = (1/2)(2)x^(0.5 -1) + (-1/2)(4)x^(-1/2 - 1) = x^(-1/2) + -2x^(-2/3) Am i right so far- Krypto78

Thanks for the reply guys. Totally understand Mark, thanks for your input:) jbunniii can you go back 1 step. You simplified 2x/√x to be 2√x. Can i ask how you got this? on a side note i am doing a self study course so i am my own tutor at present. I really want to get a handle on this...- Krypto78

Simultaneous equations with 3 Unknowns
seen my error its 2a not 5a in equation 1) so i have:- a = 0.875 b = 0.375 c = 1.125 substituting these value into all 3 equations proves correct e.g b - 3c = -3 0.375 - 3 x 1.125 does indeed = -3 how does that sound??- Krypto78
