Projectile Motion Sail Boat Problem: Finding Speed and Direction After a Gust

Thank you for replying, ok so I fixed it: The Opposite Side: Vo + at = V (5m/s?) + (0.8 m/s^2 * 6 sec) = 9.8 m/s My question is, is 9.8m/s my answer to the boat's speed 6 seconds later? or Do I have to use the Pythagorean Theorem to figure out the Hypoteneuse side and that is my answer?

Projectile Motion Sail Boat Problem: Finding Speed and Direction After a Gust

Homework Statement A sailboat is traveling east at 5m/s. A sudden gust of wind gives the boat an acceleration 0.8m/s^2 (40 degrees north of east). 1. What is the boat's speed 6 seconds later when the gust subsides? 2. What is the boat's direction 6 seconds later when the gust subsides...

NEED HELP Finding the length of an angle on a right triangle

    Use the law of cosine: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_cosines Let A = 18944, B = 30556, C = 35952 B^2 = A^2 + C^2 - 2*A*C*cos(angleB) cos(angleB) = (A^2 + C^2 - B^2 ) / (-2*A*C) Solve using inverse cosine, and you get B.

Interacting Systems - The Sled Dog

    Solution T for rope 1: 100kg * a = 150 N a = 1.5 m/s^2 If the tension in rope 1 is 150 N, what is the tension in rope 2? T for rope 2: (mass of sled 1 + sled 2)*1.5 m/s^2 = T (100kg + 80kg)*1.5m/s^2 = 270N
