Just requiring understanding of thermodynamics solution

Homework Statement A vessel divided into 2 parts by a partition, contains 4 mol of nitrogen gas at 348.15K and 30 bar on one side and 2.5mol of argon gas at 130C and 20bar on the other. If the partition is removedand the gases mixes adiabatically, and comletely, what is the change in entropy...

How Much Work is Lost in This Thermodynamics Scenario?

Homework Statement A flue gas is cooled from 1100 C to 150 C and the heat is used to generate saturated steam at 100 C in a boiler. The flue gas has a heat capacity given by CP/R = 3.83 + 0.000551 T, where T is in K. Water enters the boiler at 100 C and is vaporized at this temperature. Its...

Express volume expansivity in terms of density

Homework Statement Express volume expansivity (B) in terms of density (ρ) and its partial derivatives Homework Equations B = (1/V) (dV/dT) V = m/ρ The Attempt at a Solution I have only managed to substitute m/ρ into the expansivity equation. Don't really understand how to manipulate the...

    Calculate Moles of Acetylene & O2 in C2H2+O2 Reaction at 60C, 10mmHg

Hmmm ok correct me if I am wrong. Mole fraction (h2o) = 150/745 = 0.20134 use this to find the moles of h2o using PV= nRT, assuming ideal gas. use n to find moles of c2h2 and o2 in original mixture.

    Calculate Moles of Acetylene & O2 in C2H2+O2 Reaction at 60C, 10mmHg

The equation is C2H2 + 5/2 O2 -> 2CO2 + H2O Gases in final state would be O2, CO2, and H2O. I can find the mole fraction of H20 through Raoults law but i don't really know how to continue from there

    Calculate Moles of Acetylene & O2 in C2H2+O2 Reaction at 60C, 10mmHg

Acetylene (C2H2) is reacted with excess O2 in a container. After complete reaction, the volume of the gaseous mixture of the combustion products is 300ft3 at 60C and 10mmHg gauge pressure. P(atm) is 735mmHg. The relative humidity if the product gas is 100% with no condensed water present...
