Simple Manipultion - what am I missing?

Hi, I'm not sure how to go from the top-right to the bottom left. It seems like they have differentiated the top and bottom separately... but I think there is some e identity I have forgotten? thanks!

What are the most commonly used programming languages in industry?

and if I had to choose C or C++ first... which one?

What are the most commonly used programming languages in industry?

hi guys, so I'm in my third year at a UK university, studying Aerospace (Avionics mainly) Engineering. We've covered some programming in different modules. Some Matlab, some Java, some C. However, I'd like to start learning more thoroughly. Which languages are used the most in...

Which Overflow Configuration Achieves Higher Volumetric Flow Rate?

Volumetric flow rate (simple?) Assuming reservoir level stays constant, and friction losses are negligible compared to gravitational effects, which overflow config achieves a higher volumetric flow rate? http://boards.420chan.org/tesla/src/1311021903815.jpg --------------------- Now...

What are the top North American universities for Aerospace Engineering?

Greetings! Just finished my 1st year of my Aerospace Eng. MEng at Sheffield Uni in the UK. Got 85% average, which I'm pretty pleased with, and have chosen to follow the Avionics stream (rather than Aeromechanics). Anyway, in the 3rd year I have the option to apply to spend it at a North...

    THEORETICAL Strengths Of Materials.

Homework Statement 1) Why, in general, do brittle materials not achieve their theoretical tensile strengths? 2) Why, in general, do ductile materials not achieve their theoretical shear strengths? Homework Equations None needed. Wordy answer. The Attempt at a Solution...

    Transforming Cosine with Unit Step?

Ok, thanks. So would the above LT simply be- 1/(s+3) + 2/s ?

    Transforming Cosine with Unit Step?

Here's a similar one - Find the LT of (e^-3t + 2)h(t) with h(t) the same as before. Would the h(t) just act as a 'turn on' in these cases?

    Transforming Cosine with Unit Step?

Homework Statement Find the Laplace transform of cos(t)h(t) if the LT of h(t) (unit step) is 1/s Homework Equations --- The Attempt at a Solution Since the unit step isn't shifting anything anywhere, can I just treat it as 1? Seems too simple, haha. Any ideas? thanks.

Can We Achieve Similarity in Drag Testing for a Model Yacht?

ok, so similarity can be obtained if the flow speed in the tank is increased by 10x?

Can We Achieve Similarity in Drag Testing for a Model Yacht?

Homework Statement A yacht is of length 5m and travels at 10m/s. A scale model of length 0.5m is tested in a tank in order to predict drag on the yacht. Assuming that the fluid density and viscosity are the same for the yacht and model, can we obtain similarity? What is our best value for...

    RLC Circuit (with variable frequency)

Homework Statement Find the frequency at which the circuit becomes purely resistive and calculate the effective resistance. Here is the circuit with the given solution- The trouble is, whilst the solution is simple enough, there are many places to go wrong, and the whole process is...

Aircraft landing (drag -> variable acceleration?)

How could I estimate the distance traveled then? The distance until the velocity drops to 10m/s?

Aircraft landing (drag -> variable acceleration?)

Yep, I've just realized this too. Of course, in reality, wheel braking force will also slow the plane down, and this isn't (easily) related to the velocity (like drag is).
