Is the Electric Field at Point (-1,0) Correctly Calculated?

Two charges located along the x-axis, (-3*10^-6)C at the origin, and (6*10^-6)C at the point (2,0) What is the electric field at point -1,0? i did: Etotal = Eq1+Eq2 =(k(q1)/r^2) + (k(q2)/(2-r)^2) =(-2.09*10^4) N/C Can someone please double check my calculations (i did it a few...

A few questions - I want to make sure I did it right

    K=0.5kA^2 A=Sqrt(2K/k) =Sqrt((2*0.12)/100) =0.05 m Is this correct? Thanks!

    3.14/2 = 1.57 - am i using the wrong value for pi?

A few questions - I want to make sure I did it right

    D) Determine the period of the harmonic motion: f=(1/2pi)*(sqrt(k/m1+m2)) 1/2pi = 1.571 k/m1+m2 = 100/1.5 = 66.7 sqrt (66.7)= 8.167 1.571*8.167=12.829 T=1/f =1/(1/2pi)*(sqrt(100/1.5)) =1/12.829 s Where am i going wrong?

Arghh I totally forgot! I am still unsure of questions C and D. Thanks for the help so far!

A few questions - I want to make sure I did it right

Oh yes - I had corrected the original post - question though - how come when I do v(final) using conservation of momentum and when i do it using conservation of mechanical energy - i come up with 2 different answers? You can see what I mean above - one answer gave me 0.4 m/s for vfinal...

A few questions - I want to make sure I did it right

B2 i see had the wrong calculations; 0.5M(v(final)^2) It should come out to .899 J. But I double checked the calcuations for B1 - it still comes out to 0.4 - did I set it up incorrectly?

A few questions - I want to make sure I did it right

    So for B1: m1v1(initial)+m2v2(initial)=(m1+m2)v(final) v(final)=(m1v1(initial))/m1+m2 =(0.20)(3)/1.5 =0.4 m/s p=mv =(1.5)(0.4) =0.6 kg*m/s B2: 0.5m1v1(initial)^2+0.5m2v2(initial)^2=0.5m1v1(final)^2+0.5m2v2(final)^2 0.5m1v1(initial)^2=0.5(m1+m2)v(final)^2...

A few questions - I want to make sure I did it right

I recently had a physics test and here are the questions that were given. I answered 3 out of 4. Would an expert please be able to tell me if I got them right or if not, please lead me in the right direction? I would wait to get my test back but that won't be for another 2 weeks and I am...

One last river problem that has me confused

    But there are no angles given...and even it's 90 degrees, cos90 = 0 (no horizontal comp.) and vert. comp (1*sin 90) = 1. I am still confused?

Relative Velocity - I know the answer - But how to arrive at it?

well a boat is moving along at .75 m/s, you fall out and grab this log...you hold on to it for 40 seconds...the boat continues to move in the mean time...then you start swimming (at a speed of .95 m/s) from the log to go catch the boat...the question wants to know - by the time u actually catch...

One last river problem that has me confused

Maybe it's because of the awkward of this one that I'm not sure why it is what it is. I am looking at physics questions and answers but no work is shown. If someone could tell me how to set it up, I'd appreciate it: QUESTION: A river 1.00 mile wide flows with constant speed of 1.00...

Relative Velocity - I know the answer - But how to arrive at it?

I have been pulling my hair out over this one. Here is the question: Assume that a river has straight and parallel banks and that the current is 0.75 m/s. Drifiting down the river, you fall out of your boat and immediately grab on to a log. You hold on for 40 seconds, and then swim after...
