Undergrad Optimizing Rotating Mass Balancing: How Many Mass Blocks are Needed?
Hi all, I will like to check if I need to balance an out of balance shaft, why is the minimum number of mass block = 1 Is it because i can place the mass on the opposite end of the unbalanced mass at the same distance r away from the axis? and how many are required to dynamically balance the... -

How does the child safety lock on a drawer work?
i foudn this drawer in my school lab, where we keep all those tools beside the machine. basically, just hold a button and then you can open the drawer..this is an assignment under introduction to engineering. somehow a bit of mechanics caused we were taught cams, belts all this to start with it...- pikachoo

How does the child safety lock on a drawer work?
recently, i saw this drawer where you have to press something on a part of the drawer then you can take the things inside the drawer. if not, it is impossible to open the drawer. May I know what kind of mechanism is behind it? secondly anyone got any idea on how to design a mechanism that...- pikachoo

Can You Design a Mechanism that Translates Rotational Motion to Linear Motion?
Designing Mechanism -- Updated Anyone got any idea on how to design a mechanism that… ◦Translates rotational motion (clockwise OR anti-clockwise) to linear motion ◦Linear motion ONLY to the right ◦Upon release, the mechanism returns to its initial state- pikachoo

Undergrad Determine Lift Motion & Sketch Kinematics Profile w/ Newton's Laws
A 100g weight resting on a scale took a ride in a lift. From the video clip, determine whether is the lift going up or down based on Newton’s Laws of Motion and sketch the kinematics profile (v-t graph) of the lift carriage. any idea??
