Satellite & Gravity Homework: Find Period of Revolution

Homework Statement It is proposed to place a communications satellite in a circular orbit rounf the equator at a height og 3.59 x 10^7m above the Earth's surface. Find the period of revolution of the satellite in hours and comment on result. Values given: Radius of Earth: 6.37 x 10^6m...

How Do You Calculate Thrust and Resultant Force for Saturn V Rockets?

Guys got this question and couldn't do it. The Saturn V rockets which launched the Apollo space missions had the following specifications:(look at attached pic) Caulculate i) the force(thrust) produced at lift ii) the resultant force acting on the rocket at lift-off

Projectile Motion: Solving for Angle in the Absence of Air Resistance

Understand it. But can get how you got "Then use x = ut + 0.5at^2 to find an expression for T, the time for the object to land (ie vertial displacement = 0). I got T = usina/4.9" could you please give me the steps to arrive to that usina/4.9

Projectile Motion: Solving for Angle in the Absence of Air Resistance

thx mate, I've spent at least 4 hours trying to work them out, but always got a lot of unknowns. Mainly the time keeps me away from solving it, So i thought i would get out an equation for time, but then i got like a cos^-1 of 0 which is not possible.

Projectile Motion: Solving for Angle in the Absence of Air Resistance

I'll try to use that. Thnaks to that i know that the answer should be 63.43494882292201

Projectile Motion: Solving for Angle in the Absence of Air Resistance

i tried that mate still didn't manage to. i'll show you what i did. Vertical: s=ut+0.5at^2 s= usinΘ*t + 0.5(-10)(t^2) s=usinΘt+5t^2 Horz: s=ut 2s=ucosΘ*2t (2t because maximum height =t, and it takes double that to go down again, 2s because double the distance) then tried to...

Projectile Motion: Solving for Angle in the Absence of Air Resistance

Hi guys, got a question and been trying to solve it for 2 days. the question is: In the absence of air resistance with what angle to a horizontal ground must an object be thrown from ground level so that it ravels a distance before landing equal to twice the maximum height ? I know...
