Is more than 1 PhD a waste of time?
Say you have a PhD in pure mathematics but want credentials for computer science for some reason where it might be necessary (is there such a situation?). Is it a waste of time to also get another PhD in computer science?- PNutMargarine

How much does the school you graduate from matter?
This is what matters, but the reason why top-tier brand name schools have such a reputation is due to the amount and quality of work you can perform and achieve at those schools. A lower ranked school is less likely to have the resources and support to perform at the same level of a "better"...- PNutMargarine
