    Multiwire Proportional-Chamber doesn't work

Finally caught the muons! Hi there, I finally measured the muons. I can measure 2 microsec long and 0.4 V high Impulses which get more by a factor of 3.5 with a radioactive Source. The as well get more with less screening. If anybody is interested, contact me for more information.

Cosmic Ray Muon Production Altitude is not right

Thanks good idea, I could include the exponential distribution of the life time of a Pion which would give me a the number of Pions that reach the other altitude of interaction from the number of Pions produced. But another reason why the calculation could be wrong could be, that the Pions...

Cosmic Ray Muon Production Altitude is not right

Depends of the Energy of the primary cosmic ray Proton. The velocity of the particles is about 0.9999..c meanging a relativistic calculation is needed which i included. Of course it is decreasing while interacting whit the atmosphere.

Cosmic Ray Muon Production Altitude is not right

Cosmic Ray Muon Production Altitude is not right! Hi there, I wrote a Programm to calculate the cosmic ray muon intensity on different altitudes. I dedicated this programm from the intensity of the primary cosmic rays and the intercations in the atmosphere. First a Proton with the Energy...

    Multiwire Proportional-Chamber doesn't work

I tested the chamber with a gamma source, but there was still no signal. The electric background noise is bigger than the signal. I made sure the that the impedances are properly matched. The one problem that could be is the circuit diagramm, and the way we are trying to measure the signal...do...

    Multiwire Proportional-Chamber doesn't work

Hi there, I bulit a kind of Multiwire Proportional Chamber in my Institute to detect cosmic muons on sea level. The chamber consists of Plexiglas and contains a double capacitor. The cathodes are two copper plates and in-between the plates the anode which is a grid of wires. The distance...
