    Projectile motion finding distance

Well, you want to know at what time t the rock the hits the ground, as it is a necessary part in finding your final answer: "How far from the castle wall does the launched rock hit the ground?" You can't solve for t unless you have an equation for the height of the projectile (y - y0 = Vy(t) -...

    Projectile motion finding distance

Did you get that equation from your textbook? Doesn't really look correct unless you change what the meaning of y is. The way you have your equation, it seems like it should be Δy = Vy(t) - 1/2at^2 or y - y0 = Vy(t) - 1/2at^2, where y is the height at time t and y0 is your initial height.

Do you have an equation for y? That would be the key in incorporating the information about 12m.

Looking for info on UC Santa Cruz Mathematics

Finished Calc 2 last semester (was able to skip Calc 1 with Calc AB) and right now I'm taking Linear Algebra and Differential Equations (2 separate courses at my school). I've had the same thoughts as you about grad school prep. Though from what I've seen in PF, most people say that undergrad...

Looking for info on UC Santa Cruz Mathematics

Hello, I'm currently a 1st year 2nd semester California CC student planning to transfer to UC Santa Cruz for math (specifically Computational Mathematics). I was wondering if anyone here has any experience of the department or anything that you wanted to share about it. Thanks.
