It depends on a lot of things.
Firstly, they don't care what major you are but what courses you have taken is more important. I don't know how math heavy electrical engineering is, but for doing Economics Masters you should have Calculus I - III, Linear Algebra (proof-based), Probability...
I would suggest you to take a look at this book - How to Prove It - A Structured Approach, Velleman. It will teach you how to do proofs, it would help you a great deal with Abstract Algebra. Another book (slightly tougher, imo) is - Reading, Writing & Proving by Daepp & Gorkin.
Basically, learn...
I apologise for that!
Well I have come up with some points here...
THEORETICAL CS
Pros -
1. I can possibly attend one or two internships (one research based).
2. I heard people say that TCS will improve ones ability with proofs (but, I am quite confident about my skills with proofs, since I...
I have no idea about Theoretical CS, but, a quick glance at it made me realize that it's sort of Abstract Algebra (not contextually, but, in the abstract sense), so I kinda understand how difficult it is, but, I'm clueless when I compare it with Physics, hence I'm here.
There are other points...
Anyone?
To paraphrase: Generally speaking, which is the GPA-killer - Physics or Theoretical CS (Automata Theory, Algorithms, Theoretical Concepts of Progrmming Languages)?
Hi friends, I am a new member here. I have a bit of a dilemma here, so I thought it would be best to ask your advice on this. Thanks in advance for all your inputs.
So, the problem is I have to pick one specialisation area in my UG, either Theoretical Physics or Theoretical CS. I am really...
