    J.J. Thomson's m/e Experiment, Help

Homework Statement In Thomson's experimental determination of the ratio m/e of the mass to the charge of an electron, in which the electrons were subjected to an electric field of intensity E and a magnetic field of intensity H, the equations m(d2x/dt2) + He(dy/dt) = Ee , m(d2y/dt2) -...

    J.J. Thomson's Experiment, Help

Okay, here is the problem I was given. In Thomson's experimental determination of the ratio m/e of the mass to the charge of an electron, in which the electrons were subjected to an electric field of intensity E and a magnetic field of intensity H, the equations m(d2x/dt2) + He(dy/dt) ...

What are the physics behind flying discs and disc golf?

I am extremely interested in the physics behind flying discs such as those used in disc golf. I know a few basic principles behind it, but I would love to know all I can learn about it. Anything that any of you know is appreciated, as there is not much information available elsewhere, unless I...

Is Cosmology the Right Major for Me?

I agree, Engineering is a great place to start. you could easily switch to cosmology from there if you really wanted to because of all the math and physics you would get from engineering. you may even decide to dual major if you are up to the challenge.

    Using a Vaporizer for Cigarettes?

I would recommend you try an e cigarette. it basically vaping like you are only there is no chance you will get anything but nicotine, water vapour, and maybe some flavouring. And it looks just like a cigarette!

Programs EE + Physics Minor or double major?

I'm glad to hear Quantum Mechanics is useful, as I was planning on taking it for fun :) Anyway thanks for all the great advise..

How is Velocity Distributed over 11 Dimensions?

Thank you for clearing that up for me.

Programs EE + Physics Minor or double major?

I am not so much interested in industry. Would there be many jobs outside of industry with an ee degree? Also, same as the guy above. What are some good physics course to take that would help the most.

Programs EE + Physics Minor or double major?

Hmm.. very interesting... I never really gave much thought into EE graduate school.. I guess I always thought it was just for teaching and that sort of thing. I just E-mailed my EE guidance counsellor (happens to be my aunt) about the dual major. I will see what she says about that. I'm...

Programs EE + Physics Minor or double major?

Awesome thanks for the motivation! What areas of physics research do you think could use an EE & physics double major the most? I am mostly interested in the experimental side.

How is Velocity Distributed over 11 Dimensions?

According to M-Theory there are 11 dimensions including time. 10 of these dimensions are spatial, so objects can move and therefore have velocity? Correct? According to Einstein's General Relativity whenever an object is not in motion in the three spatial dimensions, velocity is conserved...

Programs EE + Physics Minor or double major?

I'm going to be transferring to Virginia Tech from a community college in New York soon for Electrical Engineering, I have always had a strong aptitude for physics particularly E&M. I'm starting to think that I might want to end up going to graduate school for physics. My question is would a...
