Which Temperature Range Cools Faster According to Newton's Law of Cooling?
Does this then mean that the body would cool at the same rate in both situations since they both have a temperature difference of 50 degrees celsius?- sunbunny

Which Temperature Range Cools Faster According to Newton's Law of Cooling?
Hey, I'm having problems with this question: According to Newton's law of cooling, what cools faster, a person from 150 degress celsius to 100 degrees celsius or 100 degrees celsius to 50 degrees celsius in a laboratory environment? Why? I' not really sure where to start. I know the...- sunbunny

Do formulas prevent students from understanding concepts?
I completely agree with you! I'm a university student taking introductory physics and I've never been really strong with the conceptionalization and the thinking process that goes along with this course. I find memorizing formulas as comforting because I think that I've leaned something when in...- sunbunny

Achieving Equal Velocity: Dropping 3 Ball Bearings
so from the vf^2 = 2ad equation, I can find the height by isolating d getting vf^2/2a But now where I'm confused at with this is how do i find the height if i do not know the final velocity?- sunbunny

Achieving Equal Velocity: Dropping 3 Ball Bearings
the question that i have just states that they wasnt to know what heights the 3 ball bearings should be dropped from so that at impact all 3 have the same velocity. I don't think that it matters whether or not they land at the same time, just the same velocity, or that's what it seems like to me- sunbunny

Achieving Equal Velocity: Dropping 3 Ball Bearings
Homework Statement Consider 3 ball bearings, one with a mass of 8g, one with 16g, and one with 32 g. What heights should the 3 ball bearings be dropped from so that all 3 ball bearings have the same velocity? Homework Equations I think that the relevant equation would be: vf^2= vi^2...- sunbunny

Newton's 3rd law and kinetic friction
okay, I'm starting to see how it's done and how I've mixed up my FBD. I think I just need to practice some more problems. I rearanged the m1a=usm1g to a=usm1g/m1 i then substituted this value for a into: Fapplied=m2a+usm1g Thanks so much for your help, I really appreciated it! Now...- sunbunny

okay so would this make the horizontal component of the FBD for the board: max=Fapplied,x - Ffriction,x (m1+m2)a=Fapplied,x-usm2g,x a=Fapplied,x-usm2g,x/(m1+m2)- sunbunny
