Physics Lab Experiment- Confused on what we are measuring
In my physics class for an assessment we designed our own lab. In our lab we had plastic cups and cut small holes in the bottom ranging from 0.3 cm to 1.3 cm diameters. We then measured the amount of time it took for different volumes of water, detergent, syrup and rubbing alcohol. I...- taculator

Questions about circuits and Resistors
Homework Statement http://www.sewanee.edu/physics/PHYSICS102/Ch28.pdf On this link, can anybody explain to me how to set up problems 1-5? The answers are on the page, but I have no idea how to group the resistors together to find their equivalent resistance... Please I've been working on...- taculator

What is the correct sign convention for the change in internal energy?
In my book it says that the change in internal energy = Q -W Yet, my teacher says that its Q + W He says that it's reversible due to the signs... but i don't know what that means... can somebody give me an example?- taculator

Calculating Water Speed Through a Hose
Yeah after i posted this question i looked through the book and found that formula... but i used it for the area of the base of the hoseis rather than the bucket and got 1.06 m/s... is that okay?- taculator

Calculating Water Speed Through a Hose
Homework Statement A water hose 2 cm in diameter is used to fill a 20 L bucket. If it takes 1 min to fill the bucket, what is the speed at which the water moves through the hose ( note 1L= 1000cm^3) Homework Equations Bernoulli's equation P1+.5pv^2+pgh1=P2+.5pv^2+pgh2 The Attempt at...- taculator

A question about the Doppler efffect
Ahh i see you used 320 for Fs. The reason that you got a slightly different answer was because in my book velocity of sound is given as 343 m/s. The reason I was confused originally is because in the problem it stated "characteristic frequency" so I automatically thought that to be the...- taculator

A question about the Doppler efffect
Homework Statement A commuter train passes a passenger platform at a constant speed of 40 m/s. The train horn is sounded at its characteristic frequency of 320 hz. A) What change in frequency is detected by a person on the platform as the train passes? B) What wavelength is detected by a...- taculator
