Undergrad Why Does This Probability Equation Evaluate to 0.5?
Hi, Please can someone explain to me how this probability equation evaluates to 0.5 \frac{2^{f(n)+2}}{2^{f(n)+1}} = \frac{1}{2} f(n) is essentially anything in this context. For me the probability evaluates to 2, but this is straight out a research paper and I can't doubt their...- tntcoder

Undergrad Where can I find a comprehensive resource for learning discrete mathematics?
Hi, Im after some advice on what materials to use in order to gain a fairly 'decent' understanding of the following topics: Elementary Set Theory, Subsets, Unions, Intersections, Complements. Logic, Functions, Mappings, Injectivity. Subjectivity. Bijectivity, Permutations, Proof techniques...- tntcoder

Undergrad Viscosity Help: Calculating Glycerol Viscosity w/ Data
Thanks very much, I have checked everything and the radius of the sphere is 0.8 cm, I will be continuing with my experiment tomorrow, so i will move my light gates up and down the tube to ensure i am measuring terminal velocity. Please could you tell me how i can convert from dyne sec cm-² to...- tntcoder

Undergrad Viscosity Help: Calculating Glycerol Viscosity w/ Data
Thanks integral, i made a mistake in the sphere volume, I've updated that and the density and the final equation and the units changed to Dynes. Could you tell me how i calculate an expected terminal velocity please? Could i do it with suvat equations. Thanks for all your help.- tntcoder

Undergrad Viscosity Help: Calculating Glycerol Viscosity w/ Data
I don't think it did? I've double checked the calculation, 0.29 without and 29.21 with g as 980.- tntcoder

Undergrad Calculating Mass of a Black Hole: A Primer
Hi, Im interested in calculating the mass of a black hole, but I am not actually sure how to approach it. I am guessing i want to take an example black hole, someone told me about the CYGNUS X-1 but i don't know if that's sutible. Can anyone point me to an example, or tell me the relevant...- tntcoder

High School Improving Physics Knowledge for Exams
Thank you, so is this the same reason why satellites crash into Earth eventually? they resist Earth's gravity by the centripetal acceleration but not completely and eventually it gets pulled out of orbit and will collide with earth? -

High School Improving Physics Knowledge for Exams
Hi, New to this forum and my physics isn't great, and i need to improve a hell of a lot for this years exams :-p. Firstly, Could someone explain to me how the Earth sits in a static orbit with the sun, in that they don't move closer to each other. As i thought until tonight, that...
