How can you apply the rule f(-x)=-f(x) when solving equations?

Thanks for the extra examples arildno, I get it. I put way more into it than I should have!

How can you apply the rule f(-x)=-f(x) when solving equations?

According to Gonzolo's equation, it appears that you just multiply all terms by -1. Is that correct? I really appreciate everyone help! trip7

How can you apply the rule f(-x)=-f(x) when solving equations?

Pardon my lack of proper terminology. I am trying to find even, odd, neither, or both. What I meant by 'using' is arildno's example "just plugging in -x at x's place in the expression for the function." I am trying to learn curve tracing and checking for symmetry I replaced x with -x aka...

How can you apply the rule f(-x)=-f(x) when solving equations?

How do you use f(-x)=-f(x)? I understand how to use f(x)=f(-x) Ex: y=x^3 =(-x)^3 =(-x)(-x)(-x) =-x^3 but I am confused with the previous. Any help and examples would be appreciated! trip7

Thanks all for your input. I can now sleep comfortably hehe. trip7

    What is the domain of 15x^2 + 3x - sqrt2 (x)?

Its not from a teacher. Its from an Algebre II Prentice Hall book. I may not have gotten far enough in the book to see what your meaning is :-) trip7

    What is the domain of 15x^2 + 3x - sqrt2 (x)?

(-\sqrt{2})(x) is the rational. My guess is that the domain of (f) is the set of all real numbers because you can plug any number into x and get an answer. I haven't done this in a long time and remembering that you can't get the square root of a negative number, I thought I would ask the forum...

    What is the domain of 15x^2 + 3x - sqrt2 (x)?

    I mean f(x)=15x^{2} + 3x - \sqrt 2 x Its the - \sqrt 2 x that I don't know what to do with. Any help would be appreciated.

    What is the domain of 15x^2 + 3x - sqrt2 (x)?

    Find the domain? How would I go about finding the domain of: 15x^2 + 3x - sqrt2 (x) trip7

    Problem stating: if A = x - 1/x, find A - 1/A

Thanks Gokul43201: Ok, now I got it.

    Problem stating: if A = x - 1/x, find A - 1/A

Muzza: Im sure this is easy but I am completely missing the logic. I haven't done this kind of math in a while and hoping you could explain the logic.

    Problem stating: if A = x - 1/x, find A - 1/A

I have a math problem stating: if A = x - 1/x, find A - 1/A I have no clue as to how to solve this. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
