I browsed through the links that you have given. I don't think i can perform a backup/restore with linux for I have never used that style OS or programming. Thank you though.
How can I copy my the entire harddrive image from my IBM Thinkpad T40 to another IBM Thinkpad R52? Since there is dissimilar hardware a simple backup/restore will not work. I have read about a few products that can do this. I am just trying to find the easiest way to make this happen.

How do the magnetic stripe readers in credit/debit equipment work? I am more curious how placing the credit card inside a plastic bag then swiping it works? I see it all of the time out in the field and I don't understand it.
