How to Maximize Volume-Pressure Ratio for Fire-Boat Water Supply?
The bottles will have an initial amount of water and they will be pressurized by a precharge. I'm trying to figure out the initial volume of water so that I can supply as much water as I can to satisfy the conditions I listed above.- wisam96

How to Maximize Volume-Pressure Ratio for Fire-Boat Water Supply?
Hello, I'm making a fire-boat. The boat uses 2L bottles to supply water. The fire will be 1m from the fire fighting zone and 0.5m high. The bottles are pressurized to 300 kPa. How do I maximize the volume-pressure ratio that can be supplied at that range over 90s maximum?- wisam96

Disengaging and re-engaging gears
Is the constant mesh transmission a simple mechanism that I could use in a small project like mine? I'm building an autonomous vehicle with regenerative braking, i basically want to disengage a flywheel for a second and then re engage it with a different gear.- wisam96

Disengaging and re-engaging gears
Do you think making a mechanical timer to shift the axle would be better, or should I use a microcontroller and a servo motor to shift the gears. I'm not familiar with derailleur gear, I'll do some research on it, but I doubt it will help me in my project- wisam96

Disengaging and re-engaging gears
Is it possible to disengage two moving gears then engage a moving gear with a non-moving gear? If so approximately how much energy loss will there be in doing so?- wisam96

Calculating torque required to operate a flywheel
Thanks i'll do that. Is there a difference in terms of distance traveled if I have the flywheel engaged at the top of the ramp vs having the flywheel disengaged and engaged after the vehicle gains some speed? in terms of energy loss will any method perform better than the other?- wisam96

Calculating torque required to operate a flywheel
I see, How do you think I should determine what flywheel size to make? In the vehicle requirements, it should be light as possible, guess it would be between 3-5 kg.- wisam96

Calculating torque required to operate a flywheel
Thank you very much for the information. Do you know if there is a way to calculate the maximum energy a flywheel can store? Or should it be specified from the manufacturer?- wisam96

Calculating torque required to operate a flywheel
So basically, I'm making a vehicle that should regenerate energy from braking. the car will start at rest at a ramp between 30 to 50 degrees slope. a flywheel will be connected to the front wheels of the vehicle I want to determine what kind of a flywheel will be sufficient to store the...- wisam96

Making a vehicle with regenerative breaking
That's true, as long as we only use the energy the has been stored from braking to propel the vehicle, we can use any method we want.- wisam96

Making a vehicle with regenerative breaking
We will have 4 rounds: Round 1: the vehicle will go down a slope and keep going until it crosses a beam and must brake before it passes the second beam( the distance between the two beams is known) Round 2: the vehicle will go down a slope and somewhere near the bottom of the slope a beam will...- wisam96

Making a vehicle with regenerative breaking
The breaks should be applied only when applicable. We will be doing 4 rounds and on some rounds we want the vehicle to stop when it defects the laser beam and then propel. Other rounds will be to go to a complete stop at a short distance and stay at rest, so I think a micro controller is ideal...- wisam96

Making a vehicle with regenerative breaking
Background: So I'm a mechanical engineering student, we are asked to make an autonomous vehicle with regenerative breaking. Info. about the project: dimensions of vehicle to be about 25 cm long, 16 cm wide and 8 cm high should be low weight should be low cost should be fast should carry weight...- wisam96
