Since the strain is pointwise scalar, what i did is just to calculate one strain component along a particular direction, such as: exx along x [100] direction, etc.

Exactly, strain is a pointwise scalar, the best way to plot them along a particular direction and then plot them one by one, separately, as follows: plot(x,exx) hold on plot(x,eyy) plot(x,exy) ...

strain of material w. (111) orientation is asymmetric about center point? Why?? My calculation shows an asymmetric strain distribution in InAs/GaAs(111) heterostructure while it is symmetric in InAs/GaAs(001). Someone could give explanation on it??

Then, let's say a particular example in a paper - "5nm-height 2.5ML InAs quantum dots", what does it mean? Should the height of QD be equal to "2*lattice constant of InAs (~6Å)" ? Isn't it ??
