Images of (wood) fire:

It's a lot like photographing smoke- both are very dynamic fluid-like objects without sharp edges to focus on. Nikon D810 + Nikkor 105/1.4 @ f/4.5, 1/4000 s shutter, cropped as needed.

Several years ago, I was on a side-road out in the desert. There was a highway perhaps a mile away, and apparently a rather strong temperature inversion.

Above the horizon I could see individual cars traveling the highway - but they were upside-down!

I've read about this. Apparently its a well understood type of mirage. It would be neat to see one, as you have.

Last picture from Eastwood.
I loved this place in the 80s. Not sure what happened with this tree, the valley protects the trees from the wind.
Disease possibly.

Ivan might not be giving clues, but I will.

Americans would say she's a first, of sorts, in the figurative realm of lady-like qualities.

(Sadly though, they won't be saying this after next month, without additional qualifiers.)
