I'm from Ann Arbor where punk was invented, though no one knew it at the time. So when the punk era dawned we thought it was old hat and inferior. I like the Ramones and Avril Lavigne but was glad when it was over. Today AI rules punk rock.

I'd say this is far superior to the original pipe organ version. Pipe organ is one of my least favorite instruments. They were popular because they were the loudest instrument available, the Marshall amplifier having not yet been invented.

Notice the globe made of semiprecious stones. The early made ones were beautiful. I tried to buy one -- too late.

This is one of the first records I ever had at age ten. I have the whole thing memorized. I can't recall how we got it.

Alan Sherman was wildly popular, saving Warner Brothers from bankruptcy. He later went nuts. He dropped dead in his home in front of a visiting executive from Warner Brothers.

The best thing about punk is post-punk.

I agree. In the UK we called it "New wave." Blondie, Tube way Army, Ian Dury, The Pretenders, Elvis Costello. A few others that you could stick in but probably would not have called themselves that.

"We must be new wave, they'll like us next year" as The Adverts sung in "One Chord Wonders", a (meta) punk song that explains the genre pretty well:

Many were encouraged to form bands by punk, because: "Hey if they dare to go on stage with that, then so can we". Joy Division (initially Warsaw) was formed after a Sex Pistols concert.

What about The Clash. Should I Stay or Should I Go
