I was on a business trip to Japan in July/August of 1975. There were only two TV programs that were broadcast in English: "Sesame Street" and "The Partridge Family".
I didn't spend a whole lot of time in my hotel room - although "The Partridge Family" did take the edge off my sense of fluent language deprivation. Many of the people I worked with spoke a lot of English - but not fluently - and never enough to catch a joke.

Of #1, give her about a year and she'll do it just fine.
But she'll never do it as well as she did in the video.

The alternate new method has simply not been reinforced; the traditional method has been taught and reinforced for many, many, or more decades. They both are good.

Second version is awkward, and sounds just made up by some drunk guy in an alley.

FIRST version has rhyming going for it - D, G, P, T, V, and Z (if you are American )

Something to think about: Almost all of the letters of a,b,c.... alphabet are 1 syllable to say. w is the only alphabet letter with more than 1 syllable. One may assign timing count numbers for for the sequence of letters A through Z. One would best at least stay WITH the rhythm of the music. Time signature is up to whoever. You could do 1 beat per monosyllable letter or you could do 1 beat per two monosyllable letters. A REST will need to count as some time quantity also.
