Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around creating a model of a human hand that simulates venous pressure for use with an intravenous infusion pump. The focus is on achieving a pressure range of 10 to 30 mmHg and exploring the components necessary for this model, including fluid circulation and tubing materials.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Technical explanation, Debate/contested, Experimental/applied

Main Points Raised

  • One participant seeks advice on modeling a human hand with a vein that mimics real venous pressure for an infusion pump.
  • Another participant asks for suggestions and inquires about the research findings related to the model.
  • A participant proposes using a fluid pump to circulate fluid in a closed loop to create the necessary pressure but expresses uncertainty about the type of pump to use.
  • This participant also mentions the need for elastic tubing that can accommodate a needle insertion and questions if there are better ideas for achieving the model.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

The discussion remains unresolved, with multiple competing views and suggestions being presented without consensus on the best approach or components for the model.

Hello,

I need to make a simple model of human hand with a vein that has the same pressure of a real vein 10 to 30 mmHg ,basically I want to use it with my iv infusion pump design ,please could you tell me what is the best way to do that?

What has your reading and research found so far?

I can think of several things that I would want to include in such a model. What things are you thinking of including so far?

i am thinking of creating a pressure by circulating a fluid in a closed loop tubing using a fluid pump ,but I am not sure what type of pump should I use ,also I want a tubing that is elastic enough so that a needle can be inserted to it ! ,is there any better idea ?
