A circuit of four elements. Which are in series and which are in parallel?

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the classification of electrical components in a circuit diagram, specifically determining which elements are in series and which are in parallel. The original poster asserts that all elements are in parallel, supported by their reshaped diagram. Other participants confirm this interpretation, noting that the presence of a short circuit path eliminates any series connections. The consensus is that the configuration presented indeed represents a parallel circuit.

PREREQUISITES
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits
  • Familiarity with series and parallel circuit configurations
  • Ability to interpret circuit diagrams
  • Knowledge of short circuit implications in circuit design
NEXT STEPS
  • Study the characteristics of series and parallel circuits
  • Learn how to analyze circuit diagrams effectively
  • Explore the effects of short circuits on circuit behavior
  • Investigate practical applications of series and parallel circuits in electronics
USEFUL FOR

Electronics students, hobbyists, and professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of circuit design and analysis.

I basically have this diagram:

The problem asks "which of the elements are in series and which of the elements are in parallel?"

I WANT to say that they are ALL in parallel with each other and none are in series, but I've never seen anything like that before. I tried re-shaping the diagram and I got this:

Am I wrong about this, because that looks like they're all in parallel to me?

That's the answer I would give. The short circuit path around the outside pretty much removes and "series" paths that I can see.

Welcome to the PF, BTW.

That's what I was thinking.

And thank you, I plan on being active in the forums.
