The discussion highlights the ongoing struggle for recognition and collaboration between unconventional scientists, particularly those exploring paraphysics, and traditional scientific communities. Participants emphasize the need for a mindset shift within mainstream science to embrace ideas that exist outside established norms, particularly in areas like quantum mechanics and human psychic abilities. There is a call for teamwork among diverse thinkers to create valuable scientific models, even if they venture into fringe topics. The conversation also touches on the nature of visions and their interpretations, questioning their validity and the psychological factors involved. Overall, the thread advocates for a respectful dialogue between creative non-science professionals and established scientists to foster innovation and understanding in the field.

I tend not to play well with others but am keenly interested in following up your group's areas of research...

How might I do that ?

PM me if you like

Knowing that is true regarding what you say about not working well with others I am now 3 times concluding with this conversation.

Our team intent is to exemplify the concept of teamwork not rebel against it.

God isn't a team player either and I'm not searching. What i was looking for found me...

...3 times thanks for nothing

How one might study zero, nothing or vacuums

In the NY Science Times this morning is an article, front, bottom, left entitled "Brace Yourself! Here Comes Einstein's Year"

The author begins with a quote from a letter Einstein wrote to his "pal" Conrad Habicht a math teacher...

"What are you up to, you frozen whale, you smoked, dried, canned piece of soul?"

The author of the article goes on to refer to Einstein as Habicht's "Irreverent friend".

May I tell a short story without the ethenticity normally attached to the way I originally heard it:

A man on a ship was sleeping down below and comes along another man with obviously no regard for decency proceeds to relieve himself on the sleeping man who wakes up and begins to rejoice. An on looker thinking the waking man to be completely crazy for his odd reaction asks why are you rejoicing? The wet and groggy, man explains, I am laughing and rejoicing because I did NOT get mad.

Back in the early 90's when Howard Gardner, John Briggs and others were breaking open the study of the creative mind, it was said many times that a "genius" throws themselves INTO the subject they are investigating.

How many great people are credited with being self defacing referring to this particular trait as one of their most redeeming qualities?

In short, if we can take ourselves a little less serious and realize that any talents we have came as a natural out come of our organic makeup, we might successfully investigate such such concepts as zero and nothing.

But unless we have begun to personally imitate the process we will not understand the series of questions that will follow.

The SIP is not professional and its respectability is therefore in doubt.

To give you some background, I was the director of research of the SIP until otherwise as of less than two days. I was terminated. This in itself is obviously not unprofessional but my termination is not why they are unprofessional. Let me give you a list:
1. no one informed me of my termination (I found out by visiting the meetup.com site where I found everything having to do with me deleted)
2. no one even hinted that my performance was lacking
3. no one gave me an opportunity to improve, as I apparently needed to do, based on feedback
4. my conversations with the director Suzanne Seitz were recorded and read by others without my knowledge nor permission
5. they may, though hopefully won’t, use my research idea—a framework for analyzing data using correlation of multivariable statistics in Microsoft Excel
6. members of my research team were terminated without first consulting or at least notifying myself

The purpose of this thread is to assert that the SIP is respectable and I question that respectability.

If I were you, I wouldn’t join the SIP nor would I be their director of research. You might get terminated without a second chance and without warning.

It should be interesting to see what they can produce in terms of research if this is how they treat their top people and researchers.

sorry for your loss P-thoth

I am keen to know what areas of paraphysics was given rigourous scientific enquiry by SIP ?

Sympathies, phoenixthoth, but that is how firings usually go. You only see the signals after the fact [FTL messaging??]. Been there, done that, it sux but life goes on.

I've been fired once before and that, too, was sudden. It really is a sad state of affairs if this is how most firings are. I can understand a sudden firing if a grave error had been made, you know, like one that costs the company lots of money or something.

The ironic thing is that I had been wanting to leave the group for a long time and I was looking for a way out. The way out found me all of a sudden. I'm not interested in the whys and whats; I know I wasn't spending any time on this project and I intentionally supported a member who the rest of the group wanted to eject. I still disagree on how it was done, and what wasn't done. My advice to anyone in the group is don't expect job security if your research director and, also, no members of the group should expect warning before been thrown out. But my bones of contention are listed above...

But no sour grapes here. I wish the group success and I hope that they would wish me success as well.

I often find that when one door shuts abruptly, its because another door needs to open.

Interesting idea. I'm wondering if that new door is already open or if I'll stubmle across it soon...

SIP the good, the bad and the ugly

A worthwhile discussion is underway regarding respectability and professionalism in physics.

Scientists taking this field seriously

From what I've seen the serious scientific community welcomes people willing to work with professionals, at least that's what I've found at NASA.

A discussion is going on at SIP headquarters on the topic of the respectability of SIP at: http://paraphysics.meetup.com/10/

All are welcome

I'm very familiar with Suzanne Elizabeth Seitz, her science and nursing background, and her source of income that makes all of this possible. Please look me up on MySpace and maybe I can share information that will save a lot of time that might otherwise be wasted traveling the same roads we've already gone down together.

For the respectful study of paraphysics,
William Rafti

The trouble with conventional scientists is they are unwilling to consider any theory that does not make testable predictions. No 'a posteriori' arguments will ever be deemed sufficient.
