About physics summer research for undergraduates

In summary, the speaker is a junior student from China interested in quantum information science and planning to do summer research in the USA. However, their summer vacation does not align with the start date of most research programs and they are looking for alternative opportunities. The speaker is also concerned about obtaining a visa due to the strained relationship between the US and China. They ask about the possibility of participating in exchange programs during the summer and how to obtain a visa for that.

Hilo, friends!
I am a junior student in China. I am getting to learn some about quantum information science (QIS). Next summer, I am planning to go to USA for summer research experience. But there is something wrong with the date. My summer vocation comes at the end of June exactly. However summer research programs in USA start much earlier. So, do you guys know there are some programs suitable for my time? Or, without this kind of program, can I have other kind of opportunities of participating in research in USA with money supplied. I do not have to get much money, Enough is good!

Thanks~~~

To work in the US you need a visa. As you pointed out, the timescales don't match yours, and now you have another problem.

Thus, I need a way out~

It's not going to happen for just a summer research program. Due to the unfortunate geopolitical situation between the US and China, student visas for high-level subjects like Physics are few and far in between, and for only ~3 months you'll just be denied, especially if you haven't even been accepted into a program yet.

Thank you very much~
Then what about the exchange programmes in summer between universities, how could they obtain visa?

1. What is physics summer research for undergraduates?

Physics summer research for undergraduates is a program that allows undergraduate students to participate in scientific research projects during the summer months. These projects are typically supervised by a faculty member and can involve a wide range of topics within the field of physics.
