Academic Guidance for IIT Madras Aerospace Student Applying to US Universities

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on a first-year aerospace student from IIT Madras considering transferring to a US university, specifically top institutions like MIT, due to perceived limitations in opportunities within their field in India. The student seeks advice on the feasibility and chances of being accepted as a transfer student. It is noted that gaining admission as a freshman is generally easier than as a transfer student, but the student cannot apply as a freshman since they will have completed three semesters of their BTech program by the end of the year. The conversation highlights the challenges of transferring and the competitive nature of admissions at prestigious universities.

I am a student of (indian) IIT Madras(first year) in the department of aerospace.
I am thinking of applying to US universities as a transfer student (in likes of MIT, etc). The reason being that IITs and so do India doesn't have enough oppurtunities in the area of my interest (aerospace).l needed some advise that will it be better to apply for transfer student and wat chances do I have?

It is almost always easier to be admitted to a US university as a freshman than as a transfer student.

But I can't apply as a freshman because at the end of this year I would have completed 3 semesters here in IIT of my BTech program.

Hi community My aim is to get into research about atoms, specifically, I want to do experimental research that explores questions like: 1. Why do Gallium/Mercury have low melting points 2. Why are there so many exceptions and inconsistencies when it comes to explaining molecular structures / reaction mechanisms in inorganic and organic chemistry 3. Experimental research about fundamental Quantum Mechanics, such as the one being followed by Hiroshima university that proved that observing...
