MHB Advanced PDE Books: Expert Level Resources

Click For Summary
Advanced texts in partial differential equations (PDEs) discussed include "Partial Differential Equations" by E.T. Copson and "Fourier Series and Boundary Value Problems" by R.V. Churchill and J.W. Brown. These are considered more advanced than basic PDE books like "Elementary Partial Differential Equations" by Berg and McGregor and "Applied Partial Differential Equations" by Richard Haberman. Another recommended resource is "Partial Differential Equations of Mathematical Physics and Integral Equations" by Ronald B. Guenther and John W. Lee, noted for its affordability. Craig Evans' "Partial Differential Equations" is also highlighted, though it requires a solid foundation in measure theory and functional analysis. The discussion emphasizes the importance of selecting texts that align with the reader's existing knowledge and course requirements.

What are some books that are more advanced then the basic PDE books?

One can not forget about Craig Evan's Partial Differential Equations (to make it through this book, though, you should have a good understanding of measure theory and functional analysis).

Do you think those are beyond Elementary Partial Differential Equations by Berg and McGregor and Applied Partial Differential Equations with Fourier series and Boundary Value Problems by Richard Haberman?

Sorry, but I haven't used any of the books you mentioned. The two books that I mentioned are recommended text for a course in partial differential equations in our undergraduate curriculum.

Im currently reading mathematics for physicists by Philippe Dennery and André Krzywicki, and I’m understanding most concepts however I think it would be better for me to get a book on complex analysis or calculus to better understand it so I’m not left looking at an equation for an hour trying to figure out what it means. So here comes the split, do I get a complex analysis book? Or a calculus book? I might be able to Borrow a calculus textbook from my math teacher study that for a bit and...
