The discussion emphasizes the need for a new sticky post on Physics Forums to guide newbies, particularly younger users, while ensuring it doesn't alienate any demographic. Key suggestions include encouraging clear communication, proper citation of sources, and safety tips regarding personal information. There is a call for a rule against posting email addresses to protect users, especially minors, from potential risks. Participants express skepticism about whether newbies will read the guidelines but agree that a well-crafted sticky could help minimize misunderstandings. Overall, the consensus is to create a supportive environment that balances guidance with respect for user autonomy.
