Aerospace Engineering: US Pre-U Course & Best Uni

Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion centers around the selection of pre-university courses and universities for studying aerospace engineering in the United States, particularly from the perspective of an international student from Malaysia. It explores the subjective nature of determining the "best" programs and the factors influencing this decision.

Discussion Character

  • Debate/contested
  • Conceptual clarification

Main Points Raised

  • One participant suggests that the "best" school is subjective and mentions UT Austin and Texas A&M as having rigorous aerospace engineering programs that may be easier for international students to enter compared to more competitive institutions like MIT.
  • Another participant emphasizes that the best program can vary significantly depending on the specific subfield within aerospace engineering, such as rocket propulsion versus satellite navigation and control.
  • A participant expresses frustration at the perceived annoyance towards inquiries about educational advice in the forum.
  • There is a question raised about whether studying in the UK or the USA would be better for aerospace engineering, indicating a comparison of educational systems.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants do not reach a consensus on what constitutes the "best" aerospace engineering program, highlighting multiple competing views based on subjective criteria and specific subfields.

Contextual Notes

The discussion reflects varying opinions on the accessibility of top aerospace engineering programs for international students and the importance of subfield specialization in determining the best educational path.

I'm a student from Malaysia, planning to go into aerospace engineering. I really want to study in the us, but what pre-u course is good and which uni offers the best aerospace engineering in the us?

What's up with all these threads asking about the 'best' schools...

Best is subjective. I can tell you that UT Austin and Texas A&M have rigorous AE programs that are comparatively easy to get into as an international student. I say comparatively because they're by no means easy to get into, but it's much easier to get into a school like UT and A&M than into, say, MIT. Whether they're the 'best' or not is entirely up to you.

Also, just as a side note, don't you think it's a little presumptuous that you could even get into the 'best' aerospace engineering school? Just saying...

Thanks for the advice. and you really don't have to get annoyed by people asking for advice in the physics forum.

Honestly, there are quite a few good aerospace programs in the US, and for graduate school especially, which one is the best depends heavily on what subfield you want to go into. The best school for rocket propulsion is not going to be the same as the best school for satellite navigation and control for example.

thanx for the advise guys but which is the best to study uk or usa
