AI Thread Summary
Users have reported issues with LaTeX rendering on the forums, experiencing problems across multiple browsers and devices, both logged in and incognito. Some users could see LaTeX in incognito mode while others could not, indicating a potential caching issue. A javascript error was identified and subsequently fixed, leading to improved functionality for some users after clearing their cache. The problem seemed to be widespread, affecting various operating systems and browsers. Overall, the situation appears to have been resolved for many after the fix was implemented.

I've had PMs from both @haruspex and @boneh3ad today that they are having trouble seeing their LaTeX rendering in the forums. I see their LaTeX rendering fine in their posts, but they are not seeing it rendered even when using different browsers and devices.

Is anybody else having trouble seeing their own LaTeX render in the last day or two? Thanks.

It's not just my own. No LaTeX across the entire site renders for me. It persists across multiple browsers and multiple devices, and it does not appear to be affected by logging in or out or using Incognito mode.

So when you open the "LaTeX Guide" link below the Edit window, it's all just unrendered gibberish now?

Correct. It's like the LaTeX engine simply isn't operating for me. And it's odd that it occurs across all devices own, all browsers, and even incognito.

Maybe open incognito mode on your end and see if it renders for you? Maybe the engine somehow got disabled for anyone that wasn't already logged in before whatever glitch occurred?

Yoiks, Incognito windows in Firefox for me on Windows doesn't give me much to do with PF. I seem to only see the OP in threads, and don't see any Edit Window or the associated options. That may be normal; I don't try Incognito mode much.

Turns out there are a lot of ads and broken avatars in Incognito or not logged in, but I can still see the posts... with unrendered LaTeX.

Hmmm I see the LaTeX render in incognito Chrome. I'll have to download FF to check.

I just tried on a third computer that has been logged in for a while and it does not render here, either.

That's 2 PCs, one phone, 3 networks, 3 browsers, logged in and logged out, all not rendering for me.

Works logged in or logged out for me, but not incognito. Firefox on Android.

Does not work for me. Windows on a laptop. Edge.

Works fine for me, both the Insights and the LaTeX guide, normal mode and incognito. FF 132.0 64-bit.

Works for me (FF 132.0.1 64-bit on Windows). Perhaps those having trouble somehow have gotten a wrong resource cached for the PF site (which is then carried over when using Incognito mode). Clearing cache and perhaps also cookies and local storage for the site may help in such cases.

Same behaviour for me - works normally, doesn't in incognito. I checked and I'm using the currently up to date Firefix version.
I confirm. Math does render logged in, it does not render when logged out (Chrome, Firefox, Safari; on Mac). Test here ##E=mc^2##.

Very odd, nothing has changed in the past few weeks.

I downloaded a fresh FF and the latex rendered out of the box.

I just purged the CDN cache. Please purge your locale caches and let me know if that worked. Thanks!

Seems to work on at least one device after clearing my cache now. 👍🏻
