AI Thread Summary
Deleting old archive files (.rar) from the downloads folder will not affect the extracted files, provided that the extraction process was completed successfully. Once the files have been extracted and verified, it is safe to delete the original archives to free up hard drive space. Many users confirm that they routinely delete .rar files immediately after extraction without any issues, as the extracted files are independent of the original archives.

So my hard drive is filling up and I need to make room, and the first thing that came to mind was to delete the old archives (.rar files) from my "downloads" folder. I've already extracted everything I need from them and saved it in a different place. My question is will deleting the original archives affect the files I extracted from them at all?

I don't see why it would be a problem, since if the programs needed both an archive and an extracted folder then the compression process would be kind of useless, but I wanted to make sure. Hopefully someone can help me out.

You can delete the .rar files once you extracted all the files successfully from them. I used to delete the .rar file immediately after extraction. I always check if the extraction is successful or not by opening the files before deleting .rar. It won't cause any harm to extracted file.
You can happily delete the .rar files.

Thanks a lot!

This week, I saw a documentary done by the French called Les sacrifiés de l'IA, which was presented by a Canadian show Enquête. If you understand French I recommend it. Very eye-opening. I found a similar documentary in English called The Human Cost of AI: Data workers in the Global South. There is also an interview with Milagros Miceli (appearing in both documentaries) on Youtube: I also found a powerpoint presentation by the economist Uma Rani (appearing in the French documentary), AI...
Thread 'Urgent: Physically repair - or bypass - power button on Asus laptop'
Asus Vivobook S14 flip. The power button is wrecked. Unable to turn it on AT ALL. We can get into how and why it got wrecked later, but suffice to say a kitchen knife was involved: These buttons do want to NOT come off, not like other lappies, where they can snap in and out. And they sure don't go back on. So, in the absence of a longer-term solution that might involve a replacement, is there any way I can activate the power button, like with a paperclip or wire or something? It looks...
