Non-magnetic metals are not attracted to magnetic poles, whether north or south. The discussion confirms that these metals do not exhibit magnetic properties that would cause attraction. Participants agree that the initial question reflects a common misunderstanding about magnetism. Overall, the consensus is that non-magnetic metals remain unaffected by magnetic fields. This clarification helps demystify the behavior of non-magnetic materials in relation to magnets.

I haven't had any formal teaching on magnetism, so my guess is this is an obvious question with an obvious answer, but I can't produce it myself.

Are non-magnetic metals attracted equally to both north and south magnetic poles?

Yes.

Thank you, I assumed as much.
