Astrophysicist vs aerospace engineer

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the dilemma of pursuing a career in astrophysics versus aerospace engineering, particularly for individuals from middle-class backgrounds in India. The original poster expresses concern about job prospects in astrophysics, noting that many in the field are unemployed, while also feeling a strong desire to explore space and contribute to humanity. They initially shifted focus to aerospace engineering, aiming for admission to prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT). Another participant suggests that pursuing one's passion is more important than chasing financial security, emphasizing that renowned physicists are celebrated for their contributions. The conversation highlights the importance of following personal interests and the potential for success in fields like astrophysics and engineering, despite financial uncertainties.

Hi..

Please guide me what to do..
I am from India where Astrophysicists are not much neither they have importance.
70% of them are jobless.

I want to explore how space works and all things related.
But I belong to a middle class family and fear that if i became jobless I will suffer with my family.

So, 2 years before when i was in 10th, I left the idea and tried to study to get admission into indian institutes of technologies (IIT) where I could do aerospace engineering.

I seriously want to contribute to the humankind.
What should i do?
Should I do aerospace engineering or continue with my tough journey of astophysics?

i am also from India and preparing for iit and my dream is to become a mechatronics engineer but that is not very well available in india. i cannot even afford to study abroad so my plan is to do electronics engineer and after that job and distance education so he thing to understand is that we have to fight with our problems.
The ans. to your ques is decide yourself and move towards your interest not towards money and think that even now the physicists are remembered and they are the most famous people born on Earth ever.
If you will run towards money you will not be able to do that you can do. Believe in yourself.

TL;DR Summary: What topics to cover to safely say I know arithmetic ? I am learning arithmetic from Indian NCERT textbook. Currently I have finished addition ,substraction of 2 digit numbers and divisions, multiplication of 1 digit numbers. I am moving pretty slowly. Can someone tell me what topics to cover first to build a framework and then go on in detail. I want to learn fast. It has taken me a year now learning arithmetic. I want to speed up. Thanks for the help in advance. (I also...
Hi community My aim is to get into research about atoms, specifically, I want to do experimental research that explores questions like: 1. Why do Gallium/Mercury have low melting points 2. Why are there so many exceptions and inconsistencies when it comes to explaining molecular structures / reaction mechanisms in inorganic and organic chemistry 3. Experimental research about fundamental Quantum Mechanics, such as the one being followed by Hiroshima university that proved that observing...
guys i am currently studying in computer science engineering [1st yr]. i was intrested in physics when i was in high school. due to some circumstances i chose computer science engineering degree. so i want to incoporate computer science engineering with physics and i came across computational physics. i am intrested studying it but i dont know where to start. can you guys reccomend me some yt channels or some free courses or some other way to learn the computational physics.
