SUMMARY

To calculate the speed of an object after 10.0 seconds from rest, given a force of 42.3 N, a mass of 11.3 kg, and an acceleration of 3.75 m/s², the appropriate kinematic equation is v = at. This equation directly relates acceleration, time, and final velocity. The discussion emphasizes the importance of consulting kinematic equations found in physics textbooks for solving such problems.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of Newton's Second Law of Motion
  • Familiarity with kinematic equations
  • Basic knowledge of units of force, mass, and acceleration
  • Ability to perform algebraic manipulations
NEXT STEPS
  • Review kinematic equations in physics textbooks
  • Practice problems involving force, mass, and acceleration
  • Learn about Newton's Second Law of Motion in detail
  • Explore real-world applications of kinematic equations
USEFUL FOR

Students studying physics, educators teaching mechanics, and anyone interested in understanding the relationship between force, mass, and acceleration in motion calculations.

I need help with an equation

I am finding the speed of an object after 10.0s from rest

I have a force of 42.3 N
I have the mass of 11.3 kg
I have the acceleration of 3.75 m/s

I'm not sure which equation to use.
Thanks for any help,
Kevin

Hi Husker70,

First of all, you should post homework questions in the Homework Forums... Second, to solve this problem, you should go find the kinematic equation which involves acceleration, velocity, and time--I promise it is in your book somewhere. Probably in the first or second chapter.

Sorry for posting in the wrong section. I meant to put it in homework.
I wasn't thinking that simple of an equation.
Thanks,
Kevin

not a problem... just wanted to make sure you knew for future reference. Cheers.
