SUMMARY

The discussion centers on determining the speed required for airbag deployment in a 1999 Mazda Protege following a T-bone collision. A user referenced a Wikipedia page detailing airbag triggering mechanisms, which indicates that airbags typically deploy in crashes with a force equivalent to a speed of approximately 8-14 mph. The user emphasized the need to consult a mechanic for authoritative testimony to support their case in court.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of airbag deployment mechanisms
  • Familiarity with automotive safety standards
  • Knowledge of legal procedures for subpoenaing expert witnesses
  • Basic principles of physics related to collision dynamics
NEXT STEPS
  • Research airbag deployment thresholds for various vehicle models
  • Learn about the physics of vehicle collisions and impact forces
  • Investigate the role of automotive experts in legal cases
  • Explore the legal implications of using Wikipedia as a source in court
USEFUL FOR

Legal professionals, automotive engineers, insurance adjusters, and anyone involved in accident reconstruction or litigation related to vehicle safety.

Hi, I'm new to the forums and need some help. I work in a law office and we recently had a client come in and say she was t-boned by another car and she took the ticket because they said she failed to yield. The airbags in the other mans car deployed because she was hit so hard. Does anyone know how fast this guy could have been going to deploy the airbags? It was a 1999 Mazda Protege if that helps.

Don't worry, I'm not holding anyone to anything

thanks much! it helped, we just need to subpoena a mechanic to say that this is so since we can't quote wikipedia.
