To calculate the inverse of a square matrix on a TI-83, use the notation A^(-1), ensuring that the -1 is enclosed in parentheses. This method is similar to finding the multiplicative inverse of a number. Users should double-check that the matrix is square and invertible before attempting the calculation. It's also advisable to familiarize oneself with the matrix functions on the calculator for efficient use. Mastering this technique can help in solving quiz problems involving matrix inverses.

My quiz is in a couple of hours. And I can't figure out how to calculate the inverse of a square matrix on a Ti83. Does anyone know how?

Just like you would find the multiplicative inverse of a number: use A ^ ( -1 ) where A is your matrix. Be sure to have parentheses around the -1.

thanks so much!

Question: A clock's minute hand has length 4 and its hour hand has length 3. What is the distance between the tips at the moment when it is increasing most rapidly?(Putnam Exam Question) Answer: Making assumption that both the hands moves at constant angular velocities, the answer is ## \sqrt{7} .## But don't you think this assumption is somewhat doubtful and wrong?
