Can someone tell me what i need to know before

im really interested in building things, and can anyone tell me what i would need to know before embarking on projects outlined in these books:

According to the write-up of the Mechatronics book, you don't need any preparation at all. It purports to teach you all that you need to know. The second book appears to be more advanced, requiring some prior knowledge of electronics, soldering, etc., but you might know all that you need to after finishing the first one.
